"A familiar face will pay a visit to Lely High School next Wednesday, October 10th. Author Michelle B. Weston will spend the school day (7:15-2:00 p.m.) talking with students about writing. The “show and tell” presentations will take place in the school’s media center presentation room, with students rotating throughout the day. Weston will share her experiences with writing and explain how students can enrich their own writing, as well as discuss the publishing process.

"Ms. Weston is a Naples resident and a 1994 graduate of Naples High School. Her first book, A Prophecy Forgotten: Book I of the Elysian Chronicles, was published in March, 2007. Her new book, Out of the Shadows: Book II of the Elysian Chronicles, will debut in December.

Barnes & Nobles Hosts Writing Workshops on Thursday Evenings in October

(October 3, 2007 – Naples, FL) Naples-based author M. B.Weston continues to lead writing workshops on Thursday October 11, 2007 and October 18, 2007 at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in the Waterside Shops, located at 5377 Tamiami Trail North in Naples. These are FREE workshops for adults interested in learning more about the writing process. The workshops are scheduled from 7:30 – 9:00 PM. The October 11th topic will be “Character Development” and October 18th’s topic is “Sensory Details and Landscape.” The author will also be signing copies of her first book, A Prophecy Forgotten, immediately following.

M. B.Weston is not only an award-winning writer, but also a very talented and motivating speaker. She has been scheduled as a guest speaker at many schools and events throughout Florida. “I have a great desire to share what I’ve learned especially with young people who also have a passion for writing. Through these workshops I’m able to give some guidance to our next generation of writers,” says Weston. She currently speaks to middle school and high school students about writing and getting published, and leads the Young Writer’s of Naples.

A Prophecy Forgotten is the first in the Elysian Chronicles trilogy. It’s a Tolkien-meets-Clancy fantasy novel about guardian angel warfare and treason that embodies the themes of faith, hope, and living according to your purpose through this fantasy fiction story. M. B. Weston to Speak at Corkscrew Elementary School

M. B. Weston has just confirmed that she will be speaking at Corkscrew Elementary School on Monday, November 5, 2007 and on Monday, November 19, 2007. On November 5th, She’ll be speaking to the 5th grade classes, and she’ll speak to the 4th grade classes on November 19th. The schedule and subject matter has not yet been confirmed.

"Corkscrew Elementary was the first elementary school to allow me to speak, and I’m excited to speak to them again," says Weston.

October 5-7, 2007, All Day: M. B. Weston will attend Necronomicon, a science fiction, fantasy, and gaming convention in Tampa, FL. She will be on three panels and will be selling and signing her novel, A Prohecy Forgotten, all weekend.

M. B. Weston Speaks to East Naples Middle School

On September 17th-19th, M. B. Weston spoke to students at East Naples Middle School. She discussed sensory details with the 8th graders, who had heard her speak last year. She explained how she tried to get inside her characters’ heads and see, feel, taste, touch, and hear what they did in order to provide an adequate word picture for her audience. She read the prologue of Out of the Shadows: Book II of the Elysian Chronicles to them, explaining how she used sensory details in the passage—and how she was able to describe the emotions of Davian without actually telling them. After that, she asked the students to imagine themselves at the beach and then asked them for sensory details. To the 7th and 6th graders, she explained writing and the process of getting published.
